Early Memory: No, David!

One of the earliest books I remember reading was the book No, David!  The book tells about how a kid named David is also told not to do certain things.  At the time I like the book because it had a rebellious side to it, David did all the things I wanted to do that I couldn't do.  I also wanted to throw stuff in the house like David did, but in reality I could never do that.  In the end of the book David's mother says that she loves him even though she has to keep telling him "no".  I connected that to my life because my parents used to always tell me "no",  but in the end I always knew that my parents loved me.  I remember reading this book before going to bed one night, my mom read it with me.   And lately, while babysitting I've been reading it to the kids I babysit and they have been enjoying it as much as I have.  I like the book simply because it was simple and had a lot of colorful pictures and imagery.  I always remember the book because it almost has a relative relationship to everyday life because in life you cannot always here "yes" for an answer, sometimes the answer is "no".

  1. My parents say no because they love me. They do it a lot. I think that reading books with moral lessons to younger kids can beneficial. I remember reading tons of them as a youngster. And i turned out alright ;)
